500 Artists Against Israeli Apartheid
Today, a broad spectrum of Montreal artists are standing in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom and supporting the growing international campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the Israeli state. Last winter, the Israeli state launched a violent military assault on the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip, leaving over 1400 Palestinians dead, including over 300 children. Despite the official end of military operations, the blockade continues to this day, with devastating consequences for Gaza’s residents.
Montreal artists are now joining this international campaign to concretely protest the Israeli state’s ongoing denial of the inalienable rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties, as stipulated in and protected by international law, as well as Israel’s ongoing occupation and colonization of the West Bank (including Jerusalem) and Gaza, which also constitutes a violation of international law and multiple United Nations resolutions.

America’s First Suicide Bomber
The government and its propaganda ministry do not want to call Stack a terrorist. “Terrorist” is a term the government reserves for Muslims who do not like what Israel does to Palestinians and the U.S. government does to Muslim countries.
But Stack experienced the same frustrations and emotions as Muslims who can’t take it any longer and strap on a suicide vest.

Israel rebuffs France over possible Palestine recognition
Israel has rejected the idea of foreign countries recognizing a Palestinian state, after France suggested the recognition could soon take place.
"Imposing this kind of semblance of a partial solution from outside goes against the very idea of peace," AFP quoted a senior Israeli official as saying on condition of anonymity.
The remarks came after French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said on Saturday that a Palestinian state could soon be recognized even before negotiating its borders.
"The issue before us at the moment is the building of a reality: France is training Palestinian police, businesses are being created in the West Bank," Kouchner told the French newspaper the Journal du Dimanche.

Swedish FM cancels Israel trip amid 'organ' row
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt abruptly cancelled a trip to Israel this week, the Israeli foreign ministry said on Sunday amid raised tensions over a controversial newspaper article.
Bildt postponed his Thursday visit after reports that Israeli hardline Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had considered refusing to meet with him, according to a statement from the ministry that was reported in the Israeli media.
The Swedish Foreign Ministry could not confirm the cancellation and Bildt’s office did not return Al Arabiya’s request for comment.
Israel admits to organ thefts
Israel has admitted that it harvested organs from the dead bodies of Palestinians and Israelis in the 1990s, without permission from their families. The admission follows the release of an interview with Jehuda Hiss, the former head of Israel's forensic institute, in which he said that workers at the institute had harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from Israelis, Palestinians and foreign workers. In the interview, which was conducted in 2000 when Hiss was head of Tel Aviv's Abu Kabir forensic institute, he said: "We started to harvest corneas ... Whatever was done was highly informal. No permission was asked from the family."

Finkelstein: Livni 'proud' of Gaza 'war crimes'
LONDON - Prominent Jewish-American Professor Norman Finkelstein accused Israel of perpetrating "war crimes" in Gaza through its ongoing siege of the Strip and its war at the turn of the year.
His accusation came within an international conference titled, "UNRWA and Future of Palestinian Refugees", organized in London Wednesday.
Finkelstein said the causes and effects of the war on Gaza are now coming to light, both in the Goldstone Report and in the recent arrest warrant issued by the UK for Tzipi Livni, who stated that she was "proud of everything she had done in Gaza".
